Showtime has dropped the official trailer for season two of Thi Chi. The Lena Waithe-helmed series will return on April 7, and judging by the two and a half minute clip, promises more ups and down for its Southside residents.

According to Shadow and Act, the show's sophomore season will, among other things, highlight Brandon's plan to come up in the food truck business, Emmett's struggle of being a young father fighting for custody, Kevin, Papa and Jake's coming of age, and Ronnie's personal reckoning after confessing to killing Brandon's younger brother and going to jail.

One of the flaws of season one was the show's laser focus on its male characters, to the detriment of their female counterparts.  However, with this season promising to explore the role class plays in the dynamics of Brandon and Jerrika's relationship--which could provide an opportunity to get a glimpse of her family and background--and Jada discovering what her life is like outside of being Brandon's mother, the women of The Chi may grow beyond playing supporting roles.
