When Issa Rae deems you "the black Daft Punk," you have your work cut out for you. Luckily HERO, the Montreal-based indie-electronic artist whose music was featured in an episode of Insecure, is up to the challenge.

A thumping slab of robotic, funk-infused R&B, "Dirty" is a certified bop, while the Johannes Greve Muskat-directed clip gives off David Lynch vibes with its shadowy setting and eccentric cast of characters.

"Dirty Work" is the lead single and title track from HERO's upcoming EP. Due out in January, the six-track release tells the story of an emotionally self-destructive character slowly building to the realization of perpetual pain. Heavy stuff, but if the rest of the songs are as good as "Dirty Work," this dark night of the heart will have one hell of a soundtrack.
