Billboard reports Elliott, who has written songs for Aaliyah, Whitney Houston and Beyonce, is the first female rapper ever nominated for the prize, and third rapper to be inducted after fellow stars Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri.
Meanwhile Mariah Carey, lest you forgot, has written or co-written all of her material over her nearly 30-year career, including 18 number one singles. While the kids may or may not go in for "GTFO" her musical catalogue--"Vision of Love," "Always Be My Baby," "Emotions," "Honey," and "Dreamlover" to name a few--contains one pop/R&B classic after another.
