Daniel Radcliffe might be hitting the big screen as the iconic Freddie Mercury in a biopic. The news comes after Sacha Baron Cohen, a.k.a Borat/Bruno, pulled out of the project. Joe.My.God. says other actors in the running for the role include Hugh Jackman, Adam Lambert, Russell Brand, Ewan McGregor, James Franco and Johnny Depp.
My thoughts? I like Daniel Radcliffe, but I just don't see him as Freddie...of course I could be wrong. The sight of Hugh Jackman in tight, white leather would be a wet dream come true, but I'm not sure he's right for this role. Les Miserables is one thing, "We Are The Champions" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" is quite another.
Adam Lambert is obviously inspired by Freddie and has the vocal chops and the theater background, but I don't know if he resembles him strongly enough. Russell Brand...chile no (then again no one probably thought Jamie Foxx had Ray in him). Ewan McGregor might work. But James Franco or Johnny Depp could turn it out for the kids.
What do you think?
