Filmmaker Blake Pruitt's short documentary 20MALEGAYNYC, features a fascinating discussion on the topic of hate in the gay community, particularly hatred of stereotypical gay behavior, as well as internalized homophobia and masculinity.
Pruitt, who interviewed many of his own friends for the film, says the inspiration for the documentary came after hearing them say "'I hate gay guys' or at least, 'I hate stereotypical gay guys.'"Although it focuses on the New York scene, I found myself nodding my head in agreement with a lot of the men's observations of the dynamics in gay male interaction.
