Take a few minutes to read trans man and advocate Sandy E. James' article "Growing Up As A Black Trans Man," which describes his childhood growing up on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as the ways transgender people make themselves invisible for survival. Read it HERE.
The initial controversy jumped off in an interview with Meet The Press, during which Carson stated he "would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation." The former neurosurgeon held firm with that remark in another interview with The Hill, bringing up the subject of Shariah law.
“I do not believe Shariah is consistent with the Constitution of this country. Muslims feel that their religion is very much a part of your public life and what you do as a public official, and that’s inconsistent with our principles and our Constitution,” he said.
However, Carson did say if a Muslim interested in running for office “publicly rejected all the tenets of Shariah and lived a life consistent with that,” he “wouldn’t have any problem."
Well that's nice, throwing the murderous infidels a bone. Funny how a man who plans to base his tax policy on biblical tithing feels a Muslim candidate will not only not be able to separate his personal faith from his public life, but must abandon his faith to be a suitable candidate.
TGIF fools! Posting has been, light, shall we say, save for the man candy (which I'm sure you gals don't mind). But that's because I've been holed up in the studio, and behold, here is (some) proof of my labor, a remix of Thomas Hayden and Koos' ferocious future house track "PUMP!"
While the original is a fist-pumping barrage of drops, pounding kicks and distorted vocal goodness, I decided to slow the groove down, and take a more trap/glitch hop approach, with some deep house elements thrown in the mix for good measure.
I submitted the remix as part of a contest hosted by EDM Lead. Normally this would be the part where I'd genuflect for your mouse clicks, but Thomas Hayden and Koos will be choosing the winners themselves come Monday, so keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck. There's media exposure and coins at stake!
In the meantime, listen my remix of "PUMP!" below.
Some sad news from the Big Easy. Club Fusions, widely regarded as New Orleans' best black LGBT club, has been destroyed after a fire currently under investigation.
The fire happened at around 3 a.m. Monday, when the club was closed. While no one was hurt, the building is a total loss.
"For this community itself, it's going to be very devastating. It's a loss to them because this is one of the biggest gay clubs in the city of New Orleans,” Club Fusions owner Tyronne Williams told [New Orleans station] WWL. “We have patrons who come from all over on Saturdays and Mondays to come out and enjoy theyself, so now it's basically like there's nowhere for them to go.”
